Welcome to the Youth Development Section
2007
Season
The new season is fast approaching,
and as you can see we have made some changes to the website which we hope
you'll enjoy. (Also, check the slideshows out
for previous years) It is planned to consolidate the
Under 11 side into the Severn Vale league structure this year, which will
complement the established Under 13's and Under 15's sides. Management and responsibility of
the 3 x age groups in 2007 will be: Under
11’s Jacki Smith Under
13’s Dave Corston Under
15’s Ray Gerken To be eligible to play in any of
the sides above players need to be under the age limit on 1st
September in the preceding year ( For example: to be eligible to play for
the Under 15 side in 2007 you must be under the age of 15 on 1st
September 2006) The Club is very safety
conscious, particularly when it comes to youth development cricket, and where
it used to be optional with parental consent for batsman and wicket keepers
to wear helmets, it is now compulsory. Now the indoor net sessions have
finished for 2007, it is planned to begin Friday night outdoor nets on Friday
20 April 2007. Sessions will begin at 6.00pm and will run through to 7.45pm. League games will be played on
Sunday mornings for the U13’s starting at 10.00am and Monday evenings
starting at 6.00pm for the Under 15's. Under 11 fixtures are less structured but there will be at least
5 x competitive games this year, and these will be arranged through Jacki
Smith.
All fixtures and
dates appear on the 2007 fixture card which can be obtained either at the
Club or through A copy of the league fixture
list will be available soon on the Fixtures section on the
website.
As both myself & the
managers do not live in Redmarley, it will not always be possible to meet at
the ground prior to away matches, therefore, parental transport is essential
and will be required. All aspects of the game of
cricket will be covered in the Friday night coaching sessions of which advice
and guidance will be provided by qualified coaches in conjunction with other
players and members in the Club. Membership rates are publicised
in the Clubhouse and on the fixture card, but to help reduce administrative overheads
it is likely that there will be a one-off membership fee for the duration of
the season, which will cover all Friday night practice sessions and
league/cup games. All players are encouraged to
wear cricket ‘whites’ for both games and practice sessions, and where
possible white trainers as opposed to black. Club caps and shirts are available through Helen Watkins for the
coming season, therefore, it is advisable to check availability at regular
intervals. If you require any additional
