AUCTION OF PROMISES

It is planned at the mid-summer social event on 8th July to have an 'Auction of Promises', that will be a combined fund raising event between the cricket club and Air Ambulance.

The aim is for each player/member to send out approx. 20 letters each to possible sources of donation.  These can either be local tradesman, local businesses or individuals that have a gift or a donation that would be of benefit to others at auction.  For example: I have sent out 20 x letters to local DIY, mobile phone and electrical stores in Gloucester to hopefully get a positive response.  Clearly there are no guarantees in this economic climate, but for the sake of a stamp it is worth a try.  All of these addresses can be found on the Web at http://www.yell.com/ or similar sites.

Alternatively, local tradesman as opposed to the larger stores such as butchers, garages and pubs may be a better proposition to seek contributions.

Below, are just some examples of the areas of activity where letters could be distributed to.  However, to avoid any duplication of letters going to the same place it might be helpful if you could let Ray or myself know the area/town you will be targeting, so that we can cover as many areas as possible, and others will not be wasting their time and effort through duplication.

Around the 2nd week of June Ray or I will be contacting you to round up all of the donations to input into an online catalogue, which will be circulated for prior viewing before the event.

Any comments or suggestions about the fund raising activity would be gratefully received, if not, please do your stuff...

Many thanks

Bill.
